The Geek Shall Inherit The Earth
After no doubt reeling from their appearances at Leeds & Reading this year, Weezer release their new album-Death to False Metal. For those disappointed by their more recent work (sadly, not everybody enjoys the combination of Pork with Beans), Death to False Metal brings back the Rivers we know and love. The collection draws from discarded remains of Pinkerton and Make Believe, proving that Weezer still have an endless bloody back catalogue of great pop rock. But this album has its surprises. Fast becoming one of my favourite tracks, is their cover of Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak my heart'- with the addition of melancholic piano parts and guitar fuelled angst, which I guess truely define this band - obviously a winner for the eternally lonely sentiment of a true Weezer fan. Whilst some lyrics are a tad unimaginative, the tunes are still catchy as hell, particularly 'Turning up the Radio' and 'Everyone'. These boys are back to 'The Good Life' for sure. **** =w=
