BATH TIME

I have just re-read Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar. It is one of my favourite books. I can identify so much with the protagonist, which I'm not sure is such a great thing considering she is a suicidal wreck. BUT Plath's writing really speaks to me. It is almost as it she has lived my life and we use the same references, conjure the same metaphors and make the same conclusions about others. I trust Sylvia Plath's judgement. Anyways, there is this short passage in the book, where Esther Greenwood has had a rough night, she goes back to her hotel room and takes a bath. The passage describes the healing quality of submerging oneself in water. As I read it, I found it quite soothing itself, I thought, 'I'd like to read these words every time I take a bath', a cleansing mantra if you will. So I decided to frame the words and display them in my bathroom. I downloaded this cool typewriting font free; it's like Sylvia typed it up especially for me. Kind of.
