Every time I read something new about Frank Zappa, I fall more and more in love with him. He just sounds like a good guy, who loved music and children. For someone credited as being the most absurd and obscure musician of his generation, he sure made a lot of sense in what he said. I think his absurdity was just his sense of humour. It wasn't contrived, he was just a funny guy. Anyways, I've been listening to Freak Out!, his first album. He described a 'freak out' as 'a process whereby an individual casts off outmoded and restricting standards of thinking, dress, and social etiquette in order to express creatively his relationship to his immediate environment and the social structure as a whole'. Here's You Didn't Try to Call Me.
